Designed and built by your host, Warren Roché in 1987, the Casa Rosa is his artwork, from conception and draft to construction and interior design.
The design and finish were inspired by the great flourishing of vernacular architecture in Southern California from near the beginning of the twentieth century to the Great Depression. Elena's classic paintings, Catherine's nature photography and the ever growing collection of antique Craftsman furniture adds to the elegant, but relaxed, atmosphere of the Inn.
One of the two popular rooms on the Casa Rosa ground floor (accessed completely without stairs), the Bogey and Bacall Room features Rosewood furniture that was purchased from an actual movie starlet (who wishes to remain anonymous). This room is inspired by the Caribbean adventures of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in the film, To Have and Have Not. A small fountain and pond outside the window adds to the restful atmosphere.
