Driving Directions

Los Angeles is unique in that it is a city divided by a mountain range, the Santa Monica Mountains.  On the south side is the Los Angeles Basin and on the north is the San Fernando Valley.  Topanga is in the mountains midway between these urban giants.  We are just up the hill from Malibu on the coast and Woodland Hills on the Valley side.

Public transportation is excellent in the L.A. Basin and the Valley, but not in Topanga, even though it is a major connector of these areas.  If you don't have a car, you will need one, whether rented or hired.  Jenise Blanc of Canyon Car Service knows the area and surroundings and will be pleased to assist you.

If you are arriving from Los Angeles Airport (LAX) or points south of Los Angeles:  Get on the San Diego Freeway, the 405, and go north to the Santa Monica Freeway, the 10.  Take the 10 Freeway west.  Passing through the tunnel at the coast the 10 becomes the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1), locally called PCH.  Continue north, up the coast, a few miles past Santa Monica to Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

From Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1):  Take Topanga Canyon Blvd. (Highway 27) North 6.5 miles to Cheney Drive (only on the right).  Turn right and go 7/10 mile to where Cheney Drive ends at Callon Drive*.  Turn left and go East about 1/4 mile to where public Callon Drive changes to private Callon Drive.  Continue straight ahead on the country road**.  After about 100' the road will bend to the right (south) and go uphill.  Go uphill about 400' to 20310 on the right.

If you are arriving from Bob Hope (formerly Burbank) Airport or points north of Los Angeles:  Get on the Ventura Freeway, the 101.  From the 5 or 405 Freeways turn west on the 134.  It will become the 101 Freeway.  Proceed west to Woodland Hills.

From the Ventura Freeway (Highway 101):  Exit on Topanga Canyon Boulevard South (Highway 27) and go South 5.5 miles to Cheney Drive (only on the left).  Turn left and go 7/10 mile to where Cheney Drive ends at Callon Drive*.  Turn left and go East about 1/4 mile to where public Callon Drive changes to private Callon Drive.  Continue straight ahead on the country road**.  After about 100' the road will bend to the right (south) and go uphill.  Go uphill about 400' to 20310 on the right.

If you wish to generate a map from the Internet:  The address of the Topanga Canyon Inn is 20310 Callon Drive, Topanga, California, Zip Code 90290

* If you see Shorty hanging out near the corner, be sure to wave.

** On your left you will pass a white statue of a bird/human named Garuda.  Wave if you dare.
